Dr. Durbin

Dr. Brett Durbin graduated from the UMKC School of Dentistry in 2014 and spent his first 6 years of active practice serving rural communities in southern Missouri, including community clinics in West Plains, Cabool, and Mansfield.

In 2020, Dr. Durbin took over the established practice of Dr. Charles Ryen, who has been providing dental care on the northside for nearly 40 years. Both Drs. Durbin and Ryen share a strong desire to perpetuate their legacy of compassionate, quality care with a personal emphasis for all our Greater Springfield community patients, and so the practice has re-established as “Greater Springfield Dentistry” to affirm that commitment to serving all our local patients in this spirit.

Dr. Durbin is a past President of the Greater Springfield Dental Society and has served as our region’s representative on the Missouri Dental Association’s Board of Trustees. He is also a past member of the Board of Directors for the Missouri Academy of General Dentistry and the National New Dentist Committee for the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Durbin is a pre-Fellow candidate in the Academy of General Dentistry and has been honored by Fellowships in the American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the International College of Dentists, recognizing his active leadership, commitment to ethics, and community outreach within the dental profession. Dr. Durbin was named the Outstanding New Dental Leader by the Missouri Dental Association in 2025.

Brett is a native of the Springfield area, having attended K-12 in the suburb of Ozark and studied Biology, Chemistry, and Religion as an undergraduate at Drury University. As an Eagle Scout and Scouter, he enjoys many forms of outdoor recreation as well as gardening and exercise. He is an active member of St. James Episcopal Church and also enjoys his cup of coffee, loves a good read, and delights in lots of time with family and friends.

Dr. Durbin enjoys being a dentist and friend to his patients, and he hopes you will feel like a member of the “practice family” as our patient at GSD.

Dr. Thress

Dr. Thress is a skilled and compassionate dentist, with over ten years of experience serving in public health. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) and was a classmate and remains a close friend of Dr. Durbin’s! Dr. Thress is an active member of the American Dental Association and remains committed to staying current with advancements in dental care through regular professional development.

A native of Branson, Missouri, Dr. Thress graduated from the local high school before completing his undergraduate education at Missouri State University. Outside of his dental practice, he enjoys spectating SpaceX launches and sports, as well as spending lots of quality time with his wife and their five-year-old daughter.

Our Team

James – RDH

James grew up in a small town in Massachusetts. As a young man, he moved to Missouri to pursue a career as a Registered Dental Hygienist, and achieved that goal in 2022 after graduating from Ozarks Technical Community College. James greets everyone with a smile and makes it his goal to make each and every patient feel as comfortable as possible. He loves providing the best experience to all of his patients with a compassionate attitude. James is always ready to learn a new skill or jump in to help where needed in the office.

When he is not providing care to his patients, he enjoys many outdoor activities, such as: woodworking, hiking, hunting and fishing, etc. He and his wife love to stay active in their faith and enjoy spending time with their cats, Bonnie and Clyde.

Leslie – RDH

Leslie joined the practice family in June 2024. Dedicated to making beautiful smiles and keeping them healthy, Leslie has been delivering compassionate dental care since 1997. Beginning as an assistant, after several years Leslie went on to earn her Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene from Ozarks Technical Community College in 2003. She excels in conducting thorough dental cleanings and tailoring every visit to each patient’s unique needs. In addition to being a skilled hygienist, Leslie enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her husband and her dogs.

Ashley – Office Manager

Ashley grew up in Fair Grove, Missouri, and has enjoyed working in the dental field since 2002. She is the first person you are likely to see or speak within our office. She loves getting to know each patient and working with this team that truly loves what they do. She studied at Ozark Technical Community College to become a Certified Dental Assistant and earned her Expanded Functions permit.

When she’s not taking care of patients, Ashley enjoys live music, reading, board games, and crafting. She also loves serving the children of her church and spending time with friends and family. Ashley and her husband reside in Strafford, Missouri with their daughter and two dogs.

Jessica – Admin Team

Jessica (“Jess”) joined Greater Springfield Dentistry in January 2024. Originally from Maryville, Missouri, Jess received her degree from Evangel University where she also competed in golf and track. If you happen to catch her outside of work it will likely be attending a concert, hiking, watching movies or traveling. Jess also loves to golf every chance she gets and enjoys hanging out with friends and family.

Candra – EFDA

Candra (“Candi”) grew up in Springfield, Missouri, and has been in the dental field for over 30 years. Making patients feel comfortable is Candi’s passion and favorite part of her job. She went to Pacific Grove Community College in California for Dental Assisting and graduated in 1988. In 1995 she received her Expanded Functions permits. For fun, Candi enjoys reading and lake time with her family and friends. She has been married for 28 years and has four boys, two daughters-in-law, and nine wonderful grandchildren.

Brandy – EFDA

Brandy hails from Baltimore, Maryland but has spent the majority of her life now here in Missouri falling in love with our beautiful Show-Me State. She graduated from Midwest Technical Institute in 2017 as a Certified Dental Assistant and has loved getting to know and working with patients ever since! In her free time, Brandy enjoys thrifting, crafting and all things involving her three children.

Cami – EFDA

Cami Cupp was born and raised in the Springfield, Missouri area, but spent several years traveling across the country with her husband during his service in the United States Army. Upon returning to Springfield, Cami served the community in a Public Safety role before pursuing a career in dentistry. She graduated from Midwest Technical Institute with a degree in Dental Assisting in 2015 and has since been dedicated to providing thorough, compassionate care to patients in her hometown.

Outside the office, Cami enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two children. A passionate motorcyclist, she often takes to the open road on her Harley-Davidson, exploring the scenic beauty and rolling hills of the Ozarks.
